Rebecca @attypritchard 4/18

The meeting has been called to order and roll has been taken. Last month’s minutes have been approved.

Rebecca @attypritchard 5/18

The first item is a request for DPD to negotiate a redevelopment agreement with KMKZ Real Estate Holding for redevelopment of 4848 W. Madison Street. Garrett Riou speaks about this development.

Rebecca @attypritchard 6/18

It was previously a Moo and Oink grocery store but has been empty for 10 years. KMKZ seeks to make it a cannabis grow facility.

Rebecca @attypritchard 7/18

Many of the people on the development team grew up on the west side, so it was important for them to find a location on the west side.

Rebecca @attypritchard 8/18

The item passes with just one no from Commissioner Curtis

Rebecca @attypritchard 9/18

The next item is whether to approve the sale of properties located at 3024-3040 W. 5th Ave. to @NeighborSpace to construct an eco-orchard on behalf of Garfield Park Community Council for $1 per parcel. Nelson Chueng speaks briefly about the item.

Rebecca @attypritchard 10/18

Commissioner Cox stands in support of NeighborSpace’s efforts even though in the past he’s preferred development of housing over green spaces but that this will help develop the surrounding area with housing.

Rebecca @attypritchard 11/18

The motion for approval of this item passes unanimously.

Rebecca @attypritchard 12/18

The next item is to approve the redevelopment of 3302 - 3326 E. 92nd Street, also by NeighborSpace. This is the Calumet Gateway Garden project.

Rebecca @attypritchard 14/18

Commissioner Cox asks about how NeighborSpace will be able to get so much work done between these two ambitious projects. Benjamin Helphand says they’re bringing on new staff to make sure there are enough people working on these sites exclusively to focus on these projects.

Rebecca @attypritchard 15/18

The resolution is approved unanimously.

Rebecca @attypritchard 16/18

The next item is the sale of 2215 W. Warren Boulevard to Makema Adkins, who lives nearby and wants to purchase it at market rate with the intention of building a 2 story home. It’s a vacant lot near Leavitt and Warren.

Rebecca @attypritchard 17/18

This item is approved with little to no conversation. The meeting is adjourned at 2:11 pm.

Rebecca @attypritchard 18/18

This concludes the Chicago Community Development Commission meeting. The next meeting is scheduled for April 11. For more meeting coverage, check out http://documenters.org.
